Scientific studies have shown that up to 60 percent of whatever we place on our skin is absorbed into our bodies. That's why it's so important to make sure that the products you're using are as good for you as they can be

A label declaring a product "organic" can mean different things, depending on the type of certification the product has:

  • "100 percent organic" can be used on products that contain only organic components. This means that there is nothing in the formula that isn't completely organic.
  • "Organic" can be used on products that contain at least 95 percent organic ingredients or components. Products with this label may contain some ingredients that are not organic.
  • "Made with organic ingredients" means that the product's formula is made with at least 70 percent organic ingredients. This certification indicates that, although the majority of ingredients used in the product are organic, there may also be a high concentration of conventionally produced ingredients.
Organic makeup can be made from plant materials only, or from substances derived from plant materials. Organic makeup may also mean that it is made from organic or naturally occurring compounds, like minerals.
