Laser Hair Removal
Affordable, Safe & Effective Laser Hair Removal – Brisbane and Gold Coast
The luxury of silky, smooth skin now comes at an affordable cost, so wave goodbye to waxing and book in for laser hair removal. There’s a reason why it is one of our most popular treatments!
Why try laser hair removal?
Using only medical-grade equipment, our competitively priced and effective treatments will work wonders for men and women and teenagers seeking a long term solution for hair removal. For many people, permanent laser or IPL hair removal means no last-minute wax appointments or rushing with razors (and no shaving bumps!). Can you imagine never worrying about your Brazilian again?
Women most commonly seek to remove hair from their bikini, under arms, legs and face, while many men wish to thin or eradicate hair from their chest, back, stomach, neck and genitals. Australian Skin Clinics offer treatments on all areas of the body to ensure smooth skin after six to eight sessions.
What does laser hair removal involve?
Prior to your first session, you will undergo a 15-minute consultation with a laser therapist to assess your skin and hair type and discuss prepping skin for optimum results. We have both laser and IPL treatments available and we will recommend the most suitable for your complexion, your hair type and body area being treated.
IPL works well for fair skin and targets hair with any pigment, so long as it is not white, white blonde or grey. If you are golden blonde you may require more treatment sessions. We can adjust the heads on IPL machines to treat small and large areas and we only allow highly trained nurses and aestheticians to treat you.
Our lasers can treat all skin types including dark brown. We have separate machines for lighter and darker skins. We use fast Candela Gentlelase and candela Gentleyag equipment with a larger than average laser spot size. All our laser therapists are fully trained, and have the relevant laser licensing in place.
One day’s stubble is perfect for laser! On the day, your therapist will adjust the laser settings according to your complexion, hair type and other relevant information. Your practitioner will complete the treatment, which can take five minutes to an hour depending on the area.
Is it safe?
Our staff undergoes vigorous training in laser safety before they can treat clients unsupervised. Operators require laser licenses in Queensland and our Australian Skin Clinics staff work under the guidance of our medical director, Doctor Simon Rosenbaum. While some patients feel no pain during laser, others experience a mild discomfort. Advise your practitioner if you are in pain and they will adjust the laser accordingly or provide relief.
We know hair removal is never a fun process, so we invest in quality equipment to ensure your speedy path to smoothness. Clinics and salons can spend $15,000 to $100,000 on IPL equipment and even more on laser, with manufacturers unlikely to sell high-grade machinery to non-medical practices. Using the best technology and the most efficient operators, Australian Skin Clinics will normally kill those roots in six to eight sessions, compared with 12 to 15 with less effective machinery!
If you are planning laser hair removal, always ensure the practitioner’s equipment is TGA approved.
Skill & Qualification
Before our staff are able to treat clients, they undergo vigorous training in laser safety and have to complete a specified amount of training hours before they can work unsupervised.
In Queensland, laser operators require a laser license and at Australian Skin Clinics, our staff work under the watchful guidance of our medical director Dr Simon Rosenbaum.
When planning your laser hair removal, you should ask the practitioner whether or not their equipment has TGA approval
Permanent Hair Removal?
No laser clinic can claim 100 per cent permanency, as some hair will always strive to grow back. Re-growth is affected by hormones and other biological factors which vary from person to person. Laser hair removal on teenagers may often require re-treatment in later years but most teenagers still feel they have had significant benefit despite this. Where re growth occurs the hair is usually much finer than the original growth and can be maintained with one treatment every six months.
How can I prepare?
We cannot treat you if you have had sun exposure within two weeks of your laser hair removal treatment and you must skip the spray tan; laser will sizzle any pigment on the skin your skin including spray tanning products. We can arrange your treatment on the day of your consultation, so shave the night before, but do not use wax or depilatory creams for two weeks prior to treatment. Finally we cannot treat you if you have had the sun-tanning Vitamin A injections within the last six months.
Before your first treatment you will need a short 15 minute consultation with one of our technicians. This is needed to assess your skin and hair type, assess your suitability for treatment and discuss how to prep your skin for the best possible result. We have both laser hair removal and IPL available, so can recommend the most affective treatment.
If you require a treatment on the day of your consultation, this can usually be arranged too.
Do not wax or use depilatory creams beforehand, but you should shave the night before.
What should I do post-treatment?
During the next month, the hair will fall out gradually. The timing of your treatments dramatically effects the outcome due to hair growth patterns, thus we suggest you book a course of laser hair removal treatments rather than sporadic appointments. Treatments should be every 4-6 weeks but your therapist will advise you according to your hair and skin type.
Treated areas may appear “sunburnt” after treatment; Skinstitut Laser Aid (post laser treatment) and cold compresses will ease discomfort and swelling. Avoid applying makeup to the area in the unlikely event of blistering and stay out of the sun, using sunscreen on the treated area to prevent discoloration or sunburn. Remember your skin will be sensitive to the sun for 48 hours after treatment.
Getting the Best Results
Do not wax or use depilatory creams for 2 weeks before your laser hair removal treatment. You can shave up to the day before your treatment. One day’s stubble is perfect for treatment. Timing of your treatments will dramatically effect the outcome, so we recommend that you book a course of treatments rather than coming in ad hoc.
