Are you one of the many people who worshipped the sun when you were young but now wish you had kept in the shade?
-
Do you have brown blotches & pigmentation on your face and hands?
-
Are there little blood vessels on your face, especially your cheeks?
All of these problems and many more are mostly due to sun damage but the good news is, we do have a full range o modalities that will treat them!
If you are looking for minimal downtime, then the Photo Facial may be for you.
Using IPL we can reverse the classic signs of sundamage, and also correct some of the damage to the deeper layers of the skin - the collagen and elastin layers - where many of the features of aging, sun damaged skin originate.
Photo Facials became popular when doctors using Lasers and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) to treat facial blood vessels reported that after several treatments the patients noticed improved skin texture and tone. Redness decreases, the skin becomes more uniform in colour and generally looks healthier and more youthful.
By using settings that are less intense than a full treatment and varying the parameters of the machine to effect different skin layers, the skin can be rejuvenated but because the treatments are less intense there is very little immediate change in the skin and this becomes a ‘walk-in walk-out' type of treatment.
Depending on the degree of sun damage you will generally need four to six treatments at two to four weekly intervals. Each treatment takes up to one hour to perform. There is a very mild discomfort during the treatment and the skin may look a little flushed at the end of the treatment. In the first one or two treatments there is a very small possibility of a reddish bruise occurring which fades within a week.
Photo Facial offers clients a method of treating their sun damaged skin without the down time associated with deep skin peels or laser resurfacing. It cannot treat severe wrinkling but it can dramatically reduce many of the damaging effects of the sun.
