PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) or Regen Treatments
Platelet rich Plasma injections (PRP) – also known as REGEN or autologous platelet therapy is a process of using a client’s own blood, to stimulate collagen production and improvement in skin texture, tone and healing/rejuvenation capacity. PRP was launched in the UK and parts of Europe some years ago, and has now finally reached our shores.
Benefits of PRP include: -
- It is SAFE and physiologically active
- Preparation is simple and quick, and requires only a 45 minute appointment.
- It can be used in multiple areas for dermal rejuvenation
PRP Is Suitable for:
- Crinkling skin around the eyes
- Cheeks and mid face
- Neck
- Jaw line
- Chest and décolletage
- Back of hands and arms
Side Effects
Expect minimal swelling, bruising and redness for 12-24 hours. Swelling for 24 hours. A bruise at the site where we take the blood may be visible for 2-3 days.
Results
Initial swelling will subside and then over a few weeks the Platelets will stimulate the growth factors, which will assist in more collagen growth. Results begin to appear at 3 weeks and improve gradually over ensuing months with improvement in texture and tone.
Cosmeceuticals (medical grade skin care products such as Skinstitut and ASAP) and Light therapies can enhance the results.
Advanced wrinkling cannot be reversed and a minimal improvement is predictable in persons with drug, alcohol and tobacco usage.
Severe scarring may not respond.
How Many Treatments are Required?
This will depend upon the health and age of your skin. Normally it is advised to have 2 or 3 treatments 4 weeks apart. However your clinician will determine your treatment protocol according to your skin condition.
An annual maintenance treatment may further enhance results
