Not All Hair Removal is the same.
Medical Practices and Beauty Salons can spend between $15k and well over over $100k on IPL equipment. The difference in the cost is their power and effectiveness . Generally manufacturers do not sell high grade medical equipment to non-medical practices.
Typically, with our high tech equipment, clients need an average of only 6 treatments to obtain good and lasting hair removal – compared with 10-12 treatments on some less effective equipment elsewhere.
All hair removal is uncomfortable – why put yourself through more treatments than you need to?
No Laser or IPL hair removal system can claim to be 100% permanent but with our specialist equipment we do get exceptionally good results. A maintenance treatment may be required approximately every 6 months as some hair will always return. Generally this is much finer than the original hair.
IPL
Generally, IPL is used for lighter coloured skin and can treat any hair with pigment (colour) in it. Therefore providing the hair is not white or grey, it can be treated although some shades of golden blonde may take an extra treatment or two. IPL machines have different size heads, and we can use larger ones to treat larger areas (such as legs, men’s chests and backs) more quickly. At Australian Skin Clinics IPL hair removal is carried out only by highly trained nurses and aestheticians.
Laser
Lasers are best suited to the treatment of darker skin. The hair must have dark pigment (brown or black) so it is ineffective on hair that is golden blonde or lighter. Laser is excellent for darker skins (who generally have darker hair anyway). The laser head has only one size (10mm) so it takes a long time to treat larger areas. At Australian Skin Clinics, the Laser is operated only by qualified nurses.
Pre-Treatment Consultation
We need to meet with you to assess your skin type and to establish the most appropriate equipment for your hair removal. At this consultation we ask that you come in with hair visible (do not shave, wax or use depilatory creams beforehand). We will then assess your hair and skin type and advise the best course of action to take. If we feel that IPL is the best treatment for you we will do a test patch.
We cannot use IPL or Laser on your skin at all if you have a tan or spray tan as this will cause you to burn. Our consent for requires you to confirm that you are not tanned and have not used spray tan. Please stay out of the sun for 2 weeks prior to treatment
