Do you want smoother, tighter, younger looking skin?
At Australian Skin Clinics we have a couple of treatments available that can take years off your look by tightening your skin.
We offer two skin tightening systems, equally as effective although different in application. If you are prepared to pay more for a once only treatment, Thermage CPT is for you.
If you prefer to spread the cost, please read more information on Fractional RF below.
Fractional RF is the latest technology used to tighten skin, and successfully treat stretch marks and scarring. The treatment combines the benefits of radio frequency with dermal rolling/stamping. Specific attachments allow the treatment to be tailored to breaking down scar tissue, reducing stretch marks or firming and rejuvenate the skin, with no downtime. Three to five treatments are usually recommended.
Thermage CPT is one of our most exciting treatments because it effectively generates new collagen, improves texture and make a great difference to how you look and feel.

Thermage CPT® is a once only treatment, but many of our clients are so thrilled with the results they see it as a maintenance treatment to be repeated between one and five years after the first treatment.
In 2007, we tried the old Thermage machine – it hurt a lot, the result was poor and we did not believe it would give clients the results that we would want to provide. The launch of the Thermage CPT® changed all that. In our two week trial, we treated 22 clients, and many areas of the body.
Every single client obtained a result and the best part is that the immediate result is only 20% of the finished result. The new collagen and visible signs of skin tightening can take between 3 and 6 months to fully develop. Some of the clients in the trials returned to pay for a second area to be treated, as they were so thrilled with the first!
Great results can be achieved on the face, neck and jaw line, under the eyes and on the body.
At Australian Skin Clinics, we consider Thermage CPT® to be the best available single treatment non-surgical procedure for skin tightening. Because there is no surgery involved, you will experience virtually no downtime and should return to normal activities immediately after the procedure.
How long has Thermage been available?
The original Thermage device received clearance from the FDA in America in July 2002, but we were not convinced about the effectiveness of the first generation machine. We now have the recent Thermage CPT (second generation machine) and are thrilled with the results we are getting.
How does Thermage work?
A hand piece with a smooth, flat tip delivers radio-frequency energy in the form of heat onto the skin. This causes immediate tightening of existing collagen and then formation of new collagen over time resulting in further tightening.
How long does the Thermage treatment take?
What kind of results can I expect from Thermage?
How soon will I see results?
How long will the results of Thermage last?
The Thermage treatment causes an immediate tightening of existing collagen with the development of new collagen and additional tightening over time. Unpublished reports by experienced doctors indicate that results may last 18 months or longer depending on the patient’s natural aging process.
How many Thermage treatments will I need?
Does it hurt?
At Australian Skin Clinics, we will work with you to make the treatment as comfortable as possible. We recommend 2 paracetamol 30 minutes prior to treatment. If you feel you need stronger pain relief than this, please discuss this at your initial consultation. The Thermage tip first delivers a cool sensation onto the skin, followed by a heated pulse and another cooling sensation. This cold-hot-cold sequence minimises pain.
Who performs the procedure?
At Australian Skin Clinics, only fully trained and experienced staff carry out the treatment.
Does Thermage replace a facelift?
No. Thermage can definitely tighten the skin but it won’t provide the same dramatic results of a surgical face lift. If you would like modest tightening of your skin without surgery, Thermage may be right for you. In addition, where skin is of poor healing quality, Thermage can be used to improve the texture in preparation for a future face lift.
Can I avoid other cosmetic procedures if I do this?
We believe that Thermage is the best skin tightening procedure available. It is a stand alone treatment for lose skin, but we are also seeing that Thermage can enhance the results of other treatments such as Fraxel® laser resurfacing and IPL.
Can I have Thermage if I’ve already had other procedures?
Generally yes, Thermage is compatible with most cosmetic procedures; but you will need to discuss your past procedures as well as your current expectations with our highly trained technicians.
Is it safe?
Yes, Thermage procedure is very safe. Of course, as with any procedure there is always some risk and we will discuss those with you during your consultation.
We recommend 2 paracetamol half an hour before treatment. If you feel that you need stronger pain relief than this, please discuss this at your initial consultation. The Thermage tip a cooling spray first followed by heating pulses, followed again by cooling. This cold-hot-cold sequence minimises pain.
There is no special care needed after treatment and most patients return to their regular activities immediately after. Redness and/or minor swelling may occur, but it should disappear quickly and can be covered with mineral make-up. Our experienced staff can apply mineral makeup for you before you leave the clinic.
